Apple School Manager (ASM) Export Utility

We’ve implemented an export utility that helps schools prepare student, staff, and class data for Apple School Manager. This utility uploads data in a zipped file using SFTP. The Apple School Manager Export Utility benefits school administrators by decreasing the amount of time they spend on manual data entry, allowing them to focus on administrative tasks.

What Is Apple School Manager?

“Apple School Manager is a service that lets you buy content, configure automatic device enrollment in a school’s mobile device management (MDM) solution, and create accounts for students and staff. Apple School Manager is accessible on the web and is designed for technology managers, IT administrators, staff, and instructors.”

Why Are Schools Using It?

Apple School Manager allows schools to easily:

  • Assign devices to an MDM solution
  • Purchase apps & learning materials
  • Create accounts for staff, instructors, and students

What Are the Benefits of the ASM Export Utility?

Through the ASM Export Utility in AdminPlus, schools can prepare and upload student, staff, and class data to ASM, which then uses this data to create the necessary accounts and data tables for use within ASM.

The export utility creates a zip file of your school's data to upload it to ASM. This zip file contains the following files:

Zip File Contents

Export InformationAssociated File
School Level Informationlocations.csv
Student Informationstudents.csv
Staff Informationstaff.csv
Section Informationclasses.csv
Course Informationcourses.csv
Student Roster Informationrosters.csv

Each export generates a log file that you can access using the View Log button in Tools > Custom > Apple ASM Export.
