New Features

Coursework Tab

The student card on the Parent portal Home screen now has a Coursework tab. By default, the Coursework tab displays all assignments and quizzes for a student that are due in the next 14 days and sorts the coursework in ascending order by due date, showing parents what is due first at the top of the list. To help coursework stand out to parents, coursework that is due today is highlighted in orange and the date is replaced with the word "Today." Coursework that is due tomorrow is not highlighted, but the date is replaced with the word "Tomorrow."

Parents can sort coursework by class, coursework title, coursework type, or due date in ascending or descending order by clicking the column header. Additionally, the Coursework tab has the following filters, allowing parents to adjust what coursework is displayed:

  • Class: Parents can see coursework for all classes or for a specific class.
  • Range: Parents can see the following ranges of coursework:
    • Upcoming Coursework: All coursework due in the next 14 days.
    • Past Due Coursework: All incomplete coursework with due dates in the past.
    • All Pending Coursework: All incomplete coursework , including past due and due in the future.
    • Completed Coursework: All coursework the student has completed.

Quizzes are automatically marked complete when submitted. Because assignments can be submitted in person, they must be manually marked complete by clicking Three Dot Icon in the Actions column and then clicking Mark as Completed.

  • Type: Parents can see only assignments, only quizzes, or both.

The Actions column includes a menu item for each assignment and quiz, allowing parents to e-mail the teacher, submit the assignment or quiz, or mark the assignment complete.

Student Card Coursework Tab

  • The Coursework tab displays only assignments and quizzes that the teacher has made visible.
  • The Coursework tab does not appear if both the Class Page and Lesson Plans boxes are unchecked on the Permissions > Parents page. If either the Class Page or Lesson Plans box is checked, the Coursework tab appears and shows assignments and quizzes from both sources.

Progress Box Filter

The Show classes with blank averages and grades box has been added to the Permissions > Summary > Progress Box, Scores and Progress Reports settings for Parents and Students area. This box is checked by default to ensure that this update does not change the information your parents and students see in the Progress box. If the box is unchecked, classes that currently do not have a marking period average or grade do not appear in the Progress box, and parents and students can't click on the class name to navigate to the Class Page.

Improvements

E-Mail Feature Modification

E-mails now have a 1,000-recipient maximum. When you send an e-mail to more than 1,000 recipients, the system notifies you that the e-mail will be sent in multiple deliveries.

Because e-mails must have a recipient in the To: field, you may receive one or more copies of an e-mail if the To: field is blank for subsequent deliveries. For example, let’s say you are sending an e-mail to 3,000 recipients. Two of the recipients are in the To: field and the remaining 2,998 recipients are in the Cc: field. The first e-mail is sent to one of the To: field recipients and 999 of the Cc: field recipients; the second e-mail is sent to the second To: field recipient and 999 other Cc: field recipients; and since there are no more To: field recipients for the third e-mail, the e-mail is sent to you and 999 recipients. A fourth e-mail is sent to you and the remaining Cc: field recipient.

First e-mail: To: 1 + Cc: 999= 1000

Second e-mail: To: 1 + Cc: 999 = 1000

Third e-mail: To: You + Cc: 999 = 999 (of your original 3,000 recipients)

Fourth e-mail: To: You + Cc: 1 = 1
