PlusPortals Release: January 31, 2020

A new year brings new updates, and we're excited to bring a number of improvements and feature fixes to PlusPortals with this release! Your feedback helps us decide what to build or improve upon next, so let us know what you think!

Improvements
Updated the Messages Tab for AdminFor admin user accounts, the Messages tab now has icons for viewing, replying to, and deleting messages.
Updated the Performance TabThe Performance tab has been updated to only display the View Skills/Standards button if the class has skills or standards and to better display special characters.
Updated the Preview of Appearance Changes to PlusPortals PagesThe preview image of changes being made to the appearance of PlusPortals Pages was updated to reflect the current design of the PlusPortals Home pages.
Updated the Character Count for DiscussionsThe link text of an image is no longer considered part of the character count for a student's reply to a discussion.
Updated the Group Members TabFor group heads, the Group Members tab displays up to 10 members per page by default. Members' names have also been converted to links.
Feature Fixes
Fixed Text Color on ParentPlus Portal for Mobile DevicesThe color of some text on the ParentPlus Portal Home page for mobile devices was changed to match the rest of the page.
Fixed Lesson Planner Usability on iPadsThis release corrects an issue with scrolling within the Lesson Planner on an iPad.
Fixed Directory  SettingsDirectory settings are now saved when directory access is deactivated.
Fixed Group Head Ability to View Group Members' SchedulesThis release corrects an issue where group heads couldn't view group members' schedules.
Fixed School Resource Access for Non-Teaching StaffNon-teaching staff can now access resources in the School Links and Files panel on their Home page.
Fixed Course Groups Dialog Box PositionThe Groups dialog box opens centered on the page.

Improvements

Updated the Messages Tab for Admin

The Messages tab on admin user accounts now has icons for viewing, replying to, and deleting a message. These icons are the same ones found on the E-Mail tab. With this change, admin will have a more consistent experience using the Messages and E-Mail tabs.


Updated the Performance Tab 

On the Performance tab, the View Skills/Standards button only appears if the class has skills or standards. The Performance tab was also updated to better display special characters commonly used in names.



Updated the Preview of Appearance Changes to PlusPortals Pages

The preview image of changes being made to the appearance of PlusPortals Pages was updated to reflect the current design of the PlusPortals Home pages.


Updated the Character Count for Discussions

When creating a discussion, teachers can define the minimum and maximum number of characters for a student's reply. Before, if a student used a link to insert an image, the character length of the link text was considered part of the student's reply. With this update, the link text of an image is no longer considered part of the character count.


Updated the Group Members Tab

For group heads, the Group Members tab now displays up to 10 members per page by default. Members' names have been converted to links which display the member's details when clicked. This functions the same as clicking the View Details icon.


Feature Fixes

Fixed Text Color on ParentPlus Portal for Mobile Devices

Previously, the text for Averages, Grades, and Teacher Names on the ParentPlus Portal Home page on mobile devices was a light color. The color of the text was changed to match the rest of the page.


Fixed Lesson Planner Usability on iPads

Some users experienced difficulty scrolling within the Lesson Planner when using an iPad. This has been fixed.


Fixed Directory Settings

Previously, if directory access was deactivated, the settings for the directory returned to the default and had to be reset to your preference if directory access was reactivated. Now the settings are saved when directory access is deactivated.


Fixed Group Head Ability to View Group Members' Schedules

Some group heads were unable to see group members' schedules, receiving an error page instead. This has been fixed.


Fixed School Resource Access for Non-Teaching Staff

Non-teaching staff were unable to access resources in the School Links and Files panel on their Home page, receiving an error page instead. This has been fixed.


Fixed Course Groups Dialog Box Position

For admin user accounts, clicking Add/Edit Course Group on a course request form now opens the Groups dialog box on the center of the page. Previously, the Groups dialog box needed to be dragged up to be fully visible on the page.
