Improvements

Updated Absence Totals Panel

Teachers can view their students' total number of absences in the Absence Totals panel on the Attendance tab. Previously, students' absences were listed individually with an absence count of 1.

Teachers can click the student's name or absence count to see the dates of each absence.

Converted Pop-up Windows to Tooltips

Most event and assignment information in PlusPortals is displayed using tooltips, though some places in PlusPortals still display information in pop-up windows. To improve consistency throughout PlusPortals, information in the following locations is now displayed using tooltips:

  • Login Page > Calendar panel
  • Teacher Portals > Class Overview > Assignments panel
  • Teacher Portals > Lesson Planner > Activities panel
  • Student Portals > Lesson Planner > Activities panel
  • Student Portals > Newsfeed > Assignments panel
  • Student Portals > Overview > Calendar panel

Removed Discussions Settings from Manage Accounts Page

When the Discussions feature was released, administrators could control which users had access to it by going to Manage Accounts > Settings or Permissions. We decided that the Permissions page was the appropriate location for these settings, so we removed the redundant settings from the Manage Accounts > Settings page.

Added Ability to Simultaneously Restrict a Student and Their Parent's Access to PlusPortals

We added the Restrict Contacts check box to Manage Accounts > Settings > Restriction List in admin portals. This feature gives administrators more flexibility in locking and unlocking contacts' access to their students' PlusPortals information.

When an admin selects a student to add to the Restriction List, they can select the Restrict Contacts check box to prevent all the student's contacts from accessing the student's information. Rather than adding contacts to the Restriction List separately from students, which admin can still do, the Restrict Contacts check box allows admin to prevent contacts from viewing a particular student's information while still allowing the contact to view their other students' information.

In the student panel of the Restriction List, admin see a red icon next to the students whose contacts have been restricted from accessing their PlusPortals information.

Large Discussions Open Quicker

We made changes to our software so that discussions with many replies open quicker.

Feature Fixes

Course Request Credits No Longer Exceed the Maximum Limit

Previously, when requesting courses, users were able to exceed the maximum number of credits permitted. This issue has been fixed.

Fixed Timestamps on Messages

Previously, the timestamps on some PlusPortals messages displayed the wrong date. This issue has been fixed.

Fixed Issue that Occurred When Adding Images to Assignment Comments

Previously, if a teacher dragged and dropped an image into their comment on an assignment, that assignment could disappear from E-Locker. To fix this issue, we added an image upload button to the Add Comment dialog box as well as a note to remind teachers to add images using the upload button.
