Build a Cohort

In LiveBook, cohorts are filtered groups that are configured to display a specific data set.

To build a cohort for viewing specific data sets, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to LiveBook.
  2. Click a chapter for the Cohort Manager.
  3. Click Build Cohorts in the upper right-hand corner.
  4. In the Select a Cohort Field for the Query drop-down list, select the field that is the basis for the data.

If you're basing the data on individual students, select Students.
If there are multiple students with the same name, select Unique ID instead.
If the data is summarized on grade level, select Grade Level.

  5. Define the parameters for the Cohort List by following these steps:

    1. Under Field Name, select a field to filter the cohort by (for example, Grade Level to filter by which grade the student is in).
    2. Select a Logical Operator
    3. Select a Value for the field. Once selected, the cohort member list will populate. If the value is edited, click Update SQL to update the cohort member list.
    4. Optional: Select a Boolean.
      • Select the Boolean and to define multiple fields that all apply to the cohort.
      • Select the Boolean or to define multiple potential fields that may apply to the cohort to choose from.
    5. On the right side, you will see the members of the cohort populate as you add fields and values.
  6. Once the cohort's fields are configured, click Save.
