After you update your Domain's DNS to begin directing traffic to a new website and or web-host, like your Rediker RediSite, you may experience some issues like still seeing the old website or the new website not rendering correctly, and more. Some initial interruption is to be expected, but if the interruption is longer than expected (more than 48hrs) then these issues are often caused by data and or settings present on the school's network or devices like cached data, firewalls, internal DNS, etc. Rediker is typically unable to troubleshoot such issues as we do not manage your school's network and devices. You should check with your IT person(s) and or Network Administrator(s). Below are some notes and tips that may help.
Before contacting Rediker Support please review the following information:
- If you recently made any DNS updates, be patient, it takes time, possibly up to 48 hours in some cases for such updates to propagate (or update out) across the web.
- You should also double check your DNS to ensure it was updated correctly.
- It is a good idea to also clear your device's browser cache.
- If you are on your school's network:
- try pulling up your domain/new site on a non-networked device like from home or on a cell phone with the WiFi off.
- If the site renders fine, then the issue is with your network, and should be investigated internally.
- If you experience the same issue, then our support may be be of assistance.
Some items that IT Persons/Network Administrators may want to review or be on the lookout for on school networks:
- Review any security features like filters, firewalls, anti-virus software, etc. and ensure they are not blocking your site
- Add our web-hosting server IPs to a whitelist to ensure they are allowed through (35.172.94.1, 100.24.208.97).
- If the site loads but it is loading incorrectly or looks "funny," you can review this article about ensuring your are not blocking the CDN (Content Delivery Network)
- Review any internal DNS settings and update or clear old data as needed.
- Perform a network DNS flush.
If the domain is resolving but to a "parked" page, you may have let your domain expire, at which point only an authorized contact from your school would be able to update the payment/renewal information with your registrar/DNS host.
Please note if your website is operating and rendering correctly when visited outside your school network/devices, then the website platform and hosting is operational and Rediker may not be able to identify or further troubleshoot internal issues.
IF the website has been live and accessible for a period of time, and now suddenly your site is now inaccessible, please view this article.
