Header/Footer & Business Info

The header and footer of your website serve a crucial role for branding, navigation, and user experience. Therefore, these areas are often locked to protect them. In most cases these elements can still be updated by the website editor without directly accessing or editing the area. We will often connect these sections to content contained in Business Info and or Collections. See below for more information.

Please note that all RediSites are personalized and not all headers and footers are setup identically. These areas may be configured in a customized manner to meet your schools needs.

These areas contain important items like:

As global areas, editing them from anywhere or editing the connected content affects the entire website. Avoid placing content into these areas.

If your header/footer are locked on your site and you need to make an update to them, please review the notes below to see if they provide the solution are you looking for. Otherwise, please contact your account manager or support for assistance.

Logo(s)

The logo of your website is typically displayed in the header and footer and will be linked to your home page. By default, the logo is contained under Content, Connected Data (CMS), and then Business Info. Here you will see Business Logo with Alt-Text. You can click on the Logo to replace it. The logo is then displayed on the website as a connected image widget, so replacing it in the Business Information area also updates it on the website.

We recommend that Logos be in SVG file format. Size and ratio of the logo will vary and impact your header based on the design and layout.

If your logo needs to be replaced or updated, we strongly recommend you email support@rediker.com as other adjustments and considerations may be needed (like format and sizing)

Additional/Alternative Logos

Sometimes additional version of the logo may be used like a white (inverted) version for the footer and or an athletics mascot version. In those cases, we will add them under Business Images and connect them to widget accordingly.

Business Text

If your header or home page displays a contact name, number, and or a slogan, we will often setup these items under the Business Text (Content- Connected Data (CMS)). This would allow you to update/edit such items without accessing the header/footer directly. Be sure to preview and republish the website when updates to Business Text are done. We can also configure Statements for Non-Discrimination and or a Web Accessibility in this location.

Your main site navigations are primarily composed of Pages and is a direct reflection of the Pages contained and organized in the Pages Panel of the editor. Thus, reorganizing and renaming the pages from the Pages Panel controls how the navigation appears on the website. This includes hiding pages from the navigation as needed. Be sure to preview and republish the site if edits are made to the Pages. It is highly recommended that Page Titles are kept short and that you keep your navigation to 5-7 Page Items at any given level.

See this article for more information about Pages

These are links to special items and locations like your school's PlusPortals, for example, and are often displayed in your header above your logo and navigation. In most cases, we place the titles and links into a Collection and connect them to a widget in your header. Thus, you can update these links from the connected Collection (under Content). In some cases, a "Category" field will be used to filter for those we want displayed in the "Header." Reordering the links in the Collection Table also controls the order they are displayed in.

The header and footer will often display icons which links to your social media accounts. These are managed under the Business Info section of Content (Connected Data (CMS). You simply click on the icon for the platform and fill in your account handle.

Note that the system does not work with all custom/personalized Linked in URLS

Be sure to preview and republish the site after editing your Social Icons
