The Personalization Panel shows the different kinds of Rules that can be created.
1. Popup

A modal overlay that appears on top of the page, Popups are great for special events like an upcoming fundraiser, open house, or outings. Related Support Article: Popups (support.rediker.com)
Pros:
- Easy to create
- Use any content (buttons, forms, etc.)
- Very eye-catching
Cons:
- Popup blockers/private windows
- Can be annoying
- 30-minute session cooldown
- Can't have more than one active
2. Notification Bar

A straightforward text-only area that sits at the bottom of the page, Notification Bars are great for simple yet important reminders. Related Support Article: Notification Bar (support.rediker.com)
Pros:
- Very simple to use, create and edit
- Highly visible
- Can be set to be visible on all pages
- Less intrusive than a Popup or Row
Cons:
- Bottom of the page only
- 30-minute session cooldown
- Limited to text-only
- Can't have more than one active
3. New Row

A content-rich section of the page that displays temporarily, New or Blank Rows are great for big-deal items like school closings. Related Support Article: New Row (support.rediker.com)
Pros:
- Can be the top row of the page (under header)
- Can have any content/widget
- Not limited by the 30-minute session cooldown
- Can have more than one active on a page at a time (though not recommended)
- Does not conflict with the other Rules (Notification Bar and Popup)
Cons:
- More involved to set up
- Can be a little confusing
- Can be a little "jarring" to the other website content
Summary
Personalization Rules can be particularly useful during the busy holiday season when schools face events and potential weather closings. Popups are best for special events like fundraisers, Notification Bars are ideal for simple reminders like half-days or picture days, and New Row Rules are recommended for urgent items like school closings. Each Rule has specific pros and cons: Popups can be blocked and have cooldown periods, Notification Bars are less intrusive but limited to text, and New Row Rules are most versatile but more complex to set up. Regardless of the Rule that you choose to use, these are temporary items that can be prepared and scheduled ahead of time, so you can quickly deploy them and don’t have to remember to take them down.
